Fox

Last updated

A third-faction role that belongs to neither the village nor the werewolves. Its win condition is its own — be alive when the game ends, and the Fox wins alone. Even if the village finds every wolf, a living Fox means the village does not win.

What kills the Fox — and what doesn't

Only the bite fails. Everything else goes through (mechanically, the Fox's only exemption is the werewolves' attack).

CauseDoes the Fox die?
The Werewolf attack (the bite)❌ No
Being divined by the Seer✅ Yes — and no guard can prevent it
The day vote (execution)✅ Yes (no exemption)
The Witch's poison✅ Yes
The Hunter's shot✅ Yes
The Creeper's blast✅ Yes (it takes every survivor regardless of faction)
The Trapper's trap❌ No — but the trap still fires (see below)

A trap on the Fox still fires

The trap triggers on "this player was attacked", not "this player died". ∴ If the Fox is trapped and a wolf bites it, the Fox survives untouched — and the attacking wolf dies.

The divination kill and the first-night 'Not'

On the first night the Seer receives one automatic 'Not'. That result wasn't a chosen check, so it never kills the Fox. ∴ the first-night 'Not' can be a living Fox (details in the Seer role guide).

Strategy & Tips

Reaching the end of the game unvoted and undivined is covered in the strategy column.
